14th Race for the Cure of Breast Cancer-2010
November 07, 2010 Celebrating my Sentiments of my 18th Year of Breast Cancer "SURVIVORSHIP"...(as narrated by Connie)
Thank you for supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation by participating on the 14th “Susan Komen Race for the Cure” and on behalf of my family; my husband Basho Fast Sumo, children Bernard, Nani, Jennifer and Grandaughter Bella-Emerie, I value your support, participation and presence at the Race in Balboa Park. It is my 18th year of survivorship and I’ve learned the pain of life is the pain of being alive, it is a constant battle... it is a perpetual wound, but with love and patience, nothing is impossible, to know the value of Hope, it is necessary to have suffered from the cold indifference of occurrences....simply trials of my life. But with you “Fight On” is the order of this year’s race for me. I am blessed most of all by the people who I love and who love me. I have so much to live for, thanks to all of you. Most of all, to my family; (Basho Fat Sumo, Bernard, Rohanee & Bella-Emerie Lourdes and Jennifer) who I share life and love; to my big sister Celia and her husband Mng. Marcel who is a second year survivor, to Donald and my little sister Carol V., Debra “Dee-Jae” and Mervin S., Jun and Cynthia E.; to Marck, Evelyn, Makaelyn and Marichelle E., and the big turn out participation of the Silvester(s) family, Bryan and Tess N., who participated with me on the race, thank you for such an enormous experience of your caring and sharing with your vast amounts of love, hugs, and participation, it means so much to me to live for. Thank you also to those who contributed towards the cause but were unable to join the race due to some various reasons. My family and all my friends are precious to me, and it humbles me so much that you shared your time for the race; I am honored and truly happy to a memorable occasion to cherish. Your participation was an act of support, love and commitment to the women and men who are battling, or like me who have battled and still fighting breast cancer.
There is a good reason they call this S. Komen walk for Breast Cancer a "cure exercise" for "Surviving" is not the end; it's the beginning. This is now Connie's 18th year of another beginning.
Survivorship is only a concept for in real life every day you survive you experience a process that goes on until the last day of your life. If you can grasp that, you'll make a difference...do it!... and we area team
The very least we all can do in our life is to figure out what we hope for, by living inside of it, hoping not to admire it from a distance but live right through it for life is always a challenge and also; a miracle.
"Manong" Marcel nothing in life is so hard that you can't make it easier by the way you take it with our prayers, give yourself reasons why you can.
Family should trust and believe in each other or life becomes impossible.
If you jump off a bridge, I wouldn't follow because I will be at the bottom to catch you when you fall.
Family participation is courage being discovered; doing it together there will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions.
Learning from your wisdom, I can not be pushed by my problem…thinking always you will help me if I ask.
Coming together is a beginning doing it together is progress in success for we multiply in all out effort. Participation is not leading down to expectations because as family(s) and friends we go out there and do something remarkable...thank you for your support.
My Choice for the Future
I would like to also extend my gratefulness to my co-workers; who gave pledges toward the cause. Thank you and I love you all so very much. Lastly to my "hubby secretary" Basho Fat Sumo who compiled this message to everyone for me, a big thanks to him from the bottom of my heart. Love you all, Connie
Thank you Family and Friends...

Last Year's 13th Race for the Cure - 2009
My trial is an opportunity to demonstrate God’s sustaining power for His children in tough times and testimony of my living a miracle.
9 God, thank you for blessings beyond any measure. Each time as I live another day, I look around at my family; I feel so blessed and filled with gratitude. My life is rich in so many ways. Thank you, God
my 13th race of 17 years of surviving...
You're my relation and connection to the sun, with you next to me there's no darkness I can't overcome.
Stress as a Risk Factor I have to believe that stress is not good, period. The fact that the cells operate at their fullest capability when we are relaxed and positive...that the cells actually change shape when we are stressed. It is my belief that disease is a breakdown in physiology and what has to be determined is, if we all walk around with cancer cells, it is at which point that the cells begin to change shapes or start to form patterns that really matter. What is causing our immune system to stop working at its highest potential? What is causing the cells to mutate, to multiply? On behalf of all the patients and survivors who will benefit all year long because of your generosity and participation, thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many today, and for generations to come. Let us continue this fight until we find a cure for breast cancer, and thanks to you, we are well on our way. Looking forward to seeing you again next year! - in 2010
Thank you Steph!
Everytrial has a gift for me in its hands..my family and my survivorship..
Thank you Mng. Cel
Dreams of our moments altogether, color our world with hope of loving each other, dreams they come and go, but thoughts like love will always grow in our family...
we'll live in the dream that we seek...
Thank you Debra and Stephanie
Love doesn't ask why, spoken from the heart, and never explains
Trials have a way of putting pressure on me in the most secret parts of my being. I deal with it in order to become the person God wants me to be…I will Survive!
"Knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance." In my trials I am to be tested and proven; that is, God is testing my faith in order to prove its strength.
God, thank you for blessings beyond any measure. Each time as I live another day, I look around at my family; I feel so blessed and filled with gratitude. My life is rich in so many ways. Thank you, God...I look forward to 2010...that is if I am still around then.
Thank You - Another RACE is over...we beat Team Taiwan again! Last Year's 12th Race for the Cure - 2008
All our tomorrows will be a loving and caring affair with you...
We only have just began....
Race forward and "fight on"..
My family and friends is like written in the stars, our love, all that separated us, was time, the time it took to read the map which was placed within our hearts, to find our way back to one another…you are always going to be my race for the cure team in my heart…
Our participation challenges to open our eyes to what we have lost even as we have gained...for us and others.
Waking up, there is a light that shines beyond all things on earth, beyond the highest, the very highest heavens. This is the light that shines in your heart…rise and shine!
Love is knowing you are the bud from which survivorship blossoms...
Our love empowers Bella-Emerie, giving her a choice and a chance letting her learn to make her own decisions, when appropriate, and learn to trust her feelings...she was our youngest member of the team....and she walked for the race....for Grandma Connie.
Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words...put together in a song. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart… My Support Factor
This race is the light that shines in my heart…
As you know Komen Race for the Cure helps raise awareness of the importance of a positive breast health program – annual mammography beginning at age 40, clinical breast exams at least every three years beginning at age 20 and annually at age 40, and monthly breast self-examinations for all women beginning by age 20.
The race you participated was a significant fund raising and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship of which I am a perpetual survivor, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. I am sharing this overview as a very important awareness for everyone to be very vigilant about having your mammograms and checkups every year, or even every six months to be on the safe side. Even then, if there is any change from the last one, further testing should be pursued.
Until this dreadful growth got me, listening to my heart is not simple. Finding out who I was is not simple. It takes a lot of hard work and courage to get to know who I was and what I want…I will continue racing for this cure.
“Have your mammograms every year.” I know; it is not a pleasant experience but it is necessary to protect your health. Don't ever skip a repeat mammogram, and if you have a family history of breast cancer, consider having an ultrasound along with your yearly mammogram. If there is any change, don’t let anyone dismiss it as “just calcification,” because calcification may or may not indicate cancer. Take charge of your own health and go with your instincts, be persistent, and even pushy if you have to be. With early diagnosis and treatment, a woman’s survival rate increases.
Smile, it is the key that fits the lock of everybody's heart.
The purpose of the heart is to know yourself to be yourself and yet one with God...
All grand thoughts of participation comes from the heart.
Have a strong mind and a soft heart...The heart is wiser than the intellect...Thank You for your support.
If you begin the day with love in your heart, peace in your nerves, and truth in your mind,
She is the Cure...woman in Pink Cape...Massage is the sanity to do nothing and get pampered...
What I wish to show when I turn my back is the way I see things with my eyes and in my heart...this way I still head to the right direction.
Wishing you a life well lived with love in your heart, peace in your nerves and truth in your mind and may you benefit by their presence and to be able to bring them to others, to your family and friends and to all those whose destiny draws across your way.
Participation in the heart is a fountain of gladness making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles....
In commitment it is better to have a heart without words than words with out a heart.
